So I've been thinking about the future. All the possibilities that could happen. Mainly I've been thinking about career options as i'm getting to that age when everyone is asking you, 'What do you want to be when you grow up?'
The fantasy is to marry a Prince and live happily ever after but I know that, that only comes true in fairytales.
This week I took part in the Jack Petchey, 'Speak Out' workshop which truly terrified me as it was all about public speaking, which i'm most certainly not very good at. Anyway I gave it a good try and although I probably looked nervous and sounded even more so I hope I got my message across.
My speech was about the future and how you shouldn't be rushed into a career than you really don't want to do. So here i'm now reiterating my point in a more non-nervous kind of way.
I think that a lot of people are persuaded into a career like becoming a lawyer or doctor purely for the amount of money they think they will earn but what I don't think they realise is that it is a LONG journey to get up to that level. I also think maybe (not always!) parents may disapprove of the career choice their child may want to chose, for example...
A girl with promising grades and high intellect wants to become a model but her parents are successful business people, they may say 'Oh you're much too smart to go into modelling, you could be a doctor'. I completely disagree with this scenario, now I know this isn't the case all the time but sometimes it is and that girl would go on in that career being miserable wishing she would have done what she wanted to do.
If you want to become a footballer, DO IT! If you want to design clothes, DO IT! If you enjoy something and want to spend the rest of your life doing it, then go ahead and do it!
I hope this ramble kind of got what I was saying.
Love you all,
Byeeeeeeeee
